Disclaimer
Everything this site calculates is an estimate. Here is what that means in practice, and where the uncertainty actually comes from.
Effective 18 August 2026
The results are estimates
The arithmetic is exact for the inputs given. The uncertainty is in the inputs, and it is real. A calculator cannot know your employer's salary structure, so it works from assumptions, which are shown on screen precisely because they are the weak point, not the strong one.
What makes your actual salary differ
- Salary structures vary. How much of your package is Basic, whether provident fund is capped at the statutory wage, whether the employer's contribution sits inside your CTC, what benefits are bundled in, all of it is employer policy, and all of it moves the number.
- Payroll timing varies. TDS is rarely spread evenly. It shifts as your declarations are processed and your actual earnings become clear.
- Personal circumstances vary. Other income, previous employment in the same year, arrears, reimbursements, perquisites and mid-year changes all affect your tax and none of them are modelled here.
- Rules change. This site is reviewed for Tax Year 2026–27. Tax law, provident fund rules and state levies change, sometimes mid-year.
What this site does not calculate
Capital gains and other special-rate income, business or professional income, foreign income, non-resident status, RSUs and ESOPs, perquisite valuation, relief under section 89, and the higher basic exemption for senior citizens under the old regime. The methodology page lists the scope in full.
This is information, not advice
Nothing here is tax, legal, investment or financial advice. Divya Akash Dutta is not a Chartered Accountant, tax professional or financial adviser, and the site does not claim otherwise. If a decision turns on your own circumstances, speak to someone qualified who can see all of them.
What takes precedence
Your employer's payroll records, your payslip, Form 16 and the Income Tax Department's own systems all take precedence over anything shown here. If this site and your payslip disagree, your payslip is right and we would like to know about it. See the corrections policy.
Why we say all this once, here
Rather than plastering warnings over every screen. The calculators carry a one-line note linking to this page, and that is deliberate: a disclaimer nobody reads because it is everywhere protects nobody.
